The Privacy Dad covers his experience with the two branches of digital minimilis; have dedicated, usually single-purpose, devices for everything like an e-reader, a dumb phone, etc and consolidated your digital requirements into a single device. There's some interesting thoughts in their post along with some reference reading for those interested.

I would say I'm closer to the second camp. I would like to be able to rely on a single device for my digital needs (with redundancy in some cases) as I feel having too many single purpose devices adds to my overal clutter. Some day I'd like to move closer to what Dom Corriveau described with Samsung's Dex Mode, I also shared my thoughts in a link post.

I discovered The Privacy Dad's post through Andreas' link dump. This post sat in my notes for too long, since I wanted to convert this into a well thought out blog post but never got around to it.
