Use Subdomains

Do not buy a custom domain for every little idea you have. Save your money, give your project the longevity it deserves, and show off who made the dang thing implicitly.

This extract is from Chris Coyier's blog, and it's something that inherently made sense to me. I never got in on the domain grabbing bandwagon but I think I get the appeal, maybe, it's still a stretch in my mind.
